The social engagement director is responsible for creating the strategy and vision for storytelling among our social channels and influencer
partnerships and bringing that vision to life. They will oversee an internal social media team and external agency focused on influencer marketing
to increase engagement and awareness, drive acquisition and retention, build integrations across efforts, create data-driven best practices to
elevate our brand, and increase team efficiencies. To be successful in this role, our director must have deep experience with social media and
influencer marketing, a passion for storytelling, ability to work in a face paced environment, an an entrepreneurial spirit, experience building and
motivating teams, and a commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Job
  • Advance the Company's goals and mission through the development and implementation of a strategic social media and influencer marketing plan.
  • Become an expert in Sitka Salmon Shares messaging as an external voice representing the Company.
  • Enforces brand guidelines and collaborates with internal teams to coordinate specific marketing needs.
  • Lead account management, including expanding into new platforms and increasing existing platform presence if/when relevant.
  • Ensure social media presence, activities, and outputs remain relevant, innovative, and aligned with the Communications and Community annual
  • plan.
  • Continually assesses how to improve messaging, visibility, community presence, and campaign performance and make necessary adjustments quickly.
  • Drive acquisition and retention through the design and coordination of platform-specific strategies and tactics.
  • Drive awareness, following, and engagement through the design and coordination of platform-specific campaigns.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive process for content production by Social Media Manager and other program contributors, including staff, fishermen, and influencers.
  • Build out and manage static content publishing from calendar population, to editing, approving, scheduling, and posting across platforms.
  • Develop and document best practices for sharing, stories, hashtags, etc.
  • Organize, oversee, and participate in an account management system that ensures no longer than a 12-hour response time to all paid and organic messages, comments, tags, mentions, etc.
  • Gradually build and manage a social media team.
  • Expand the influencer marketing program to increase sales and build efficiencies and connections across other communications channels including digital platforms, website and social
  • Conduct social media listening and social media monitoring using appropriate tools.
  • Stay informed of and incorporate emerging trends and tools in social media, marketing, technology, and advertising.
  • Closely follow relevant news and trending topics to develop and orchestrate social media response, in concert with organizational leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Ideate and oversee carousel, info graphic, and other visual storytelling design.
  • Remote work is available for this position.

  • Data-minded with an advanced understanding of social media analytics across platforms - how to find, interpret, and simplify results for
  • stakeholders
  • Understands the basic tenets of SEO and how social media contributes
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, self-starter with drive and commitment to excellence
  • Passion for work and commitment to developing skills and helping team members learn on a daily basis
  • Collaborative, both in terms of working with program staff and collaborating cross-departmentally
  • Willingness to pinch-hit for reporting staff
  • Good sense of humor
  • Specializes in or is passionate about environmental stewardship, community supported food systems, etc.
  • Background in PR, communications, and/or social media
  • 7+ years work experience in the field of communications, including at least three years overseeing a significant social media presence
  • Bachelor's degree - preferably in communications, environmental science or related field
