Modeled after community-supported agriculture (CSA), we provide high-quality, traceable seafood, with a purpose, to tens of thousands of home cooks.  We source our fish from our network of small-boat fishermen-owners through our fish plant in Sitka as well as through partnerships with small-scale fishermen in other parts of the state. About The Position: The Human Resource Manager will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) area encompassing all aspects of the employment life cycle including benefits administration, compensation questions, and providing guidance on company policies and practices.  This position is a technical manager.


Core Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
  • Researches and stays current on COVID 19 policies, procedures, and protocols.  Updates policies as needed and communicates changes to leadership and be a liaison for COVID related questions within the organization.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company values and goals.
  • Maintains records of participation in health and wellness plans. Tracks new hire transactions.
  • Maintains records of hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • In conjunction with HR leadership, assists management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Responds to employment verification inquiries.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Assists in the administration of compensation programs to ensure compliance and equity within the organization.
  • Administers open enrollment for benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Investigates accidents and prepares reports for insurance carriers. Maintains documentation for all work-related incidents.
  • Participates in wage surveys to obtain the labor market competitive wage rate.
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of professional human resources management experience.
  • Extensive experience with HRIS systems- specific Paylocity experience a plus. 
  • Excellent presentation, critical thinking skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office products (i.e.Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Publisher) and Google Suite
